Peter has always worked in horse racing, having begun as a manager of betting shops, doing freelance photography at stables, stud farms and racecourses. The art was a natural progression from the photography and, having worked his own trade stand at racecourses in the UK, the ambition was finally realised when, along with Maria, they set up a partnership that has flourished into one of the world's leaders in publishing equine art.
Peter still displays at the tracks, but mainly in Ireland, at Leopardstown, Galway and Tipperary and, can also be seen at various stable "Open Days" throughout the UK. His own equine heroes are Generous, Giant's Causeway and Istabraq.

They are both great supporters of equine-related charities, those benefiting include Stable Lads Welfare Trust, Racing Welfare, Injured Jockeys Fund, Riding for the Disabled, Greatwood Care for the Rehabilitation of Racehorses and the British Racing School. Other charities that have had their support include Cancer Research, CancerBACUP, NSPCC and, most recently, Motor Neurone Disease.  As well as her duties with S.F.A., Maria works alongside teenagers suffering from Autism.

Of course, the company to progress, needed artists of the highest quality and, in Stephen J Smith they have arguably the finest. Stephen has been "on board" since the very first day and, his quality and reputation has grown alongside that of Sporting Fine Art. Other fine artists working for S.F.A include Chris Howells and Jacquie Jones.

The company not only publishes limited edition prints from original oil paintings but, also accepts one-off commissions from clients worldwide.
Work outside horse racing has included commissions from Manchester United and other soccer clubs, as well as Northampton Saints from the world of rugby union.

Outside of the equine circle, Peter likes nothing more than to see his beloved Wigan rugby league, whenever he gets the time.
